Use and maintenance of engineering cylinders in high temperature environments

High temperature environment places high demands on the use and maintenance of engineering cylinders. High temperature will accelerate the aging of oil, damage to seals, and even affect the stability and safety of the system. Therefore, in high temperature environments, the use and maintenance of engineering cylinders need to pay special attention to the following aspects:

1. Choose oil that adapts to high temperatures
In high temperature environments, conventional hydraulic oils may experience performance degradation due to excessively high temperatures, and even cause oil aging. Therefore, hydraulic oils with good high temperature stability should be selected, and common ones are:
Synthetic hydraulic oil: This type of oil usually has good oxidation resistance and thermal stability and can be used at higher temperatures.
High temperature hydraulic oil: These oils are designed for high temperature environments and have stronger high temperature resistance.
Flame-resistant hydraulic oil: If the high temperature environment is also accompanied by a fire risk, you can choose fire-resistant oil.

2. Choose seals with strong high temperature adaptability
High temperature will accelerate the aging and deformation of seals, affect the sealing effect of the cylinder, and then cause oil leakage. Choosing high temperature resistant seals can effectively extend the service life of the cylinder.
Fluororubber (FKM): Suitable for high temperature environments, it can maintain stable performance at higher temperatures.
Polyurethane (PU) seals: Although polyurethane has poor durability at high temperatures, it can still be used under certain adaptation conditions.
Metal seals: For high temperature environments, metal seals may be a more ideal choice.

3. Improve the efficiency of the cooling system
In high temperature environments, the temperature of the oil is often too high, so the cooling system of the cylinder should be in good condition. Common cooling methods include:
Liquid cooling system: The heat is removed by circulating coolant.
Air cooling system: The air flow is enhanced through fans and other equipment to reduce the oil temperature.
Radiator and cooler: A radiator should be configured in the cylinder system to reduce the oil temperature in time and avoid the deterioration of the oil properties due to excessive oil temperature.

4. Marine cylinder manufacturers regularly check the oil and cylinder status
In high temperature environments, the oil will deteriorate faster, so it is necessary to check the oil status regularly and replace the oil as needed. Inspection items include:
Oil temperature: When the oil temperature is too high, it may be necessary to increase cooling or replace the oil.
Oil contaminants: There may be contaminants or moisture in the oil, which will affect the performance of the system and must be checked and cleaned regularly.
Oil acid value: The increase in oil acid value usually indicates that the oil has aged and should be replaced in time.
In addition, the sealing performance of the cylinder should be checked to ensure that the seal is not aged or damaged by high temperature.

5. Clean the cylinder and system regularly
In a high temperature environment, dirt or sediment may accumulate on the surface and inside of the cylinder, which may affect the movement performance of the cylinder and even cause failure. The surface of the cylinder should be cleaned regularly and the oil system should be cleaned with a suitable detergent.

6. Avoid overload and overheating
In a high temperature environment, avoid excessive load on the cylinder. Excessive pressure and temperature will cause the cylinder to overheat, which will affect its service life. Reasonable load planning can effectively reduce the damage to the cylinder in a high temperature environment.

7. Temperature monitoring and alarm system
Install a temperature monitoring device and set up an alarm system to monitor the temperature changes of the cylinder and oil in real time. Once the temperature exceeds the set value, the system will sound an alarm to remind the operator to take corresponding measures (such as stopping work, installing cooling devices, reducing loads, etc.).

8. Correct start and stop operation
In high temperature environments, the start and stop operations of the cylinder should be more cautious. When starting, the pressure should be increased slowly to avoid excessive impact pressure under instantaneous high temperature. When stopping, the pressure should be gradually released to avoid damage to the cylinder caused by a sudden drop in temperature.

9. Regular maintenance and inspection
Marine cylinder manufacturers regularly inspect and repair the cylinders, especially in high temperature environments, and need to regularly check the status of key components such as seals, oil, and cooling systems. Once an abnormality is found, it should be handled in time to avoid small problems from developing into major failures.
In summary, when using and maintaining engineering cylinders in high temperature environments, it is necessary to consider multiple factors such as oil, seals, and cooling systems, operate reasonably, and check regularly to ensure the long-term operation of the cylinders.
